4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good ..... with smart people., September 27, 2011
This review is from: simplehuman 14-Ounce Sensor Pump for Soap or Sanitizer, Brushed nickel (Kitchen)
Before I bought the Simple Human model, I had bought about 8 other automatic soap dispensors, 4 other brands. Out of those brands only one brand was reliable. Without mentioning names, it looks like a blue whale/fish thing. Reason for that design was for the sake of the kids.

To take care of the adult baths and kitchen I bought a few of these Simple Human models. Best performing units to date. All things mechanical will eventually wear out and after a few years I need to replace 2 of them. I will definitley get more of the same.

I will respond delicately to the people who can not get enough soap to come out of the dispensor (especially the ones who replaced several 'defective' units). You're stupid. When I load it with soap I put in 50% soap and 50% water. The dispensor settings work very well set at either #1 or #2. Plenty of soap squirts out energetically. There is still always the option of using the manual dispense button at the back on top (for extremely... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Mine works great, August 11, 2011

I bought a 2 pack of these from Costco (grey) but this same model, and both have worked great for 1 year and still work fine. I replace batteries maybe every 4 months but my children are grown and now just visit. So probably a large family of youngins would drain the batteries faster. It also depends on what soap is used in the dispenser. I had tried a white creamy soap with some moisturizers and it seems to have air in it and did not work as well. But I use a clear antibacterial soap and it works flawlessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable if you RTFM, with good looks as well, September 18, 2011

The dispenser works quite well - I'm not sure what these other people are complaining about. The flow is more than sufficient and there are no chemical odors (the chemical concerns are raised, surely as usual, by the chemical conspiracy nuts).

When I first set up the dispenser, no soap came out when I waved my hand under it. But, once I gently flicked the rubber opening AS DIRECTED BY THE MANUAL, there were no problems. So, I suspect that most people who had flow problems just couldn't RTFM.

Or, perhaps they were using the wrong kind of soap, as I can imagine that some soaps might be too viscous. Again, maybe these people disregarded the instructions and used beaded/exfoliating soap? I used the soap that came bundled with the dispenser and had zero problems.
